The markets in Europe and Asia are developing rapidly toward battery and fuel cell based energy storage and energy supply. Hybrid systems with a battery and fuel cell are the solution for a future oriented and environment friendly energy storage and supply for mobile and stationary applications.
For electric vehicles, beside the energy supply via a battery and fuel cell, also the optimisation of the powertrain is necessary. Optimised components like the electric motor, gearset and power electronics need to be developed. That will allow a complete and optimised solution.
The China market will be addressed initially. Hydrogen based applications will play an important in mobile applications in China. Important political decisions have been made in that direction. The European markets are also in the focus of FCP.
It is planned to establish and develop the new Chemnitz facility and the Chemnitz region as a center of competence for the new fuel cell and powertrain technology.
